Much of what was printed in local newspapers such as the Review during this period was obtained as letters or communications from readers or private individuals. George Barr, then living in Philadelphia, had been an Ephrata resident. His letters consisted of his reminiscences of Ephrata as it had been 50 years earlier (1830's). The first section deals with churches and religious organizations. The second section describes schooling in the 1830's. This publication also contains an article by Clarence E Sphon on the Ephrata Paper Mill, and the Hauck-Fry (Frey) Cemetery by Clarence E. Spohn.
