More than I Bargained For

You Don’t Know Me was not at all what I thought it would be. It had more depth and more substance than I imagined. From the blurb I knew that Rue was going to go from rags to riches. What I did not expect was for the turmoil, heartache, humiliation and love she would go through along the way. You Don’t Know Me, is told in 4 POV’s. You would think that it would be confusing but for this story to be told we needed to get everyone’s POV. This story really pushed my buttons. I cried a lot, got angry and screamed but it also made me smile laugh and fall in love.
Rue finds out her real father left her $50 million dollars and that she also has half-brothers Jack and Sean. Jack is not all happy with the idea of having a half-sister especially one that is like Rue. Jack does not hide is distaste for Rue at all. He is very cruel and is constantly mean and degrading her. Sean on the other hand, wants to give Rue a chance and tries his best to let her in, but he follows Jack on everything he does. This is where we meet Alec the rock star. Jack, Sean and Alec have been friends for years. They travel with the same crowds and jet set across the world at the drop of the hat. Rue is determined to show these men there is more to her than they see, but she did not expect to fall into their world of greed, vicious cruelty and back stabbing. Just as Rue lets her guard down, she finds out just how cruel Jack, Sean and Alec’ world really is, and how much she does not want to be a part of it.
My heart broke for Rue, for in Alec she thought she found a connection and with Jack and Sean a family she longed for that just wasn’t working out. While I was reading this book and felt a nagging feeling at my chest, because these grown men, only cared for themselves. They never had to struggle and work for anything at all. Rue was never about the money. She was more about finding somewhere to belong. She wanted to dance and live her dream. I really lost myself in the story and these characters. I felt every bit of excitement, fear, joy, pain and love Rue felt and I also felt the pain, anguish and remorse the boys felt. This was a great read, one that speaks volumes.

One surprise after another, I laughed, cried and went for a baseball bat a few times.....lol. 10 stars

Another first class, 10 star book from Ms. Hopkins, ( her books never let me down ) they are all so well written, the story line is always good and her character's are totally fantastic. Rue is a quiet sad, young lady. She works graveyard, has her own little place, a best friend that would wake up jail, laughing with Rue that that was one heck of night, ( kind of as the saying goes about best friends ).
Then at 8 a.m. after celebrating her 21st birthday, she is rudely awakened by a man, that is a tee total jerk in my book, my own personal opinion here, so please don't holler at me. He asked her name, and then her birth date, ( that is where the jerk comes in, as you will see). Then her whole world fell apart, and my heart broke for her.
Rue is a trip, she and the jerk man, snip and snype at each other, I love it. Sooooo many things happen in such a short time span, that I could write 20 paragraphs about and maybe still keep most spoilers to myself. ;). I loved the book, I read it in one sitting. Ms. Hopkins does that to me all the time, I start one her books and have to read it till it is ended. Please, please give You don't Know Me a chance, I know you will not be disappointed. *offering Ms. Hopkins a bow on another truely excellent book*

This was a nice story but I would've liked more about the couple then I got. I did love the brothers part in this but I wanted more romance in a romance book. I wish I could give more stars but it was lacking in my book. Still a nice story though.
